About Bienal de São Paulo
The Bienal de São Paulo, Latin America’s most important biennial, is plowing ahead with plans to mount its main exhibition in September. Recently, the biennial has revealed an artist list for that show, which is being curated by a team led by Jacopo Crivelli Visconti.

The show is titled “Faz Escuro mas eu canto” (“Though it’s dark, still I sing”), a reference to a 1965 poem by Thiago de Mello, and was conceived prior to the onset of the pandemic. The 91 artists included meditate in their work on what art can do during our challenging moment.

About Seoul Mediacity Biennale
Established in 2000 as an initiative of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Mediacity Biennale is organized by the Seoul Museum of Art. The Biennale is internationally recognized for forging new links between art, media, and the urban fabric. Yung Ma was appointed as the Artistic Director for the 11th edition of the Seoul Mediacity Biennale.

In light of the current global Covid-19 pandemic and widespread lockdown measures, escapism has become all the more symbolic and relevant. Titled “ONE ESCAPE AT A TIME”, the biennial is going to explore new contextual meaning of escapism under the new circumstance.
