Artist: Xu Di

Vanguard Gallery requests the honor of your presence at the opening event of the first solo show of young artist Xu Di in Shanghai, “Vivid As Fruit” on Friday Sep 10th, 2010 from 4 pm onwards. Xu Di’s works fully demonstrates the characteristics of his born in 1980’s: living in the current times, he still attempts to discover the familiar surroundings on an irrelevant angle. People say those who are born in 1980’s are very self-centered, but you will discover egoism in Xu Di’s works is only a way of expression. His focus maintains on the existence of the social university.

Sea food is a frequent element in Xu’s works, but the sea food is no longer a leading popular consumption in his workings. It reveals to us as a rotten, deteriorated and queer image. From freshness to rottenness, from superiority to deterioration, everything changes quickly and it especially depends on your perception. Xu Di utilizes his perception and pondering to experience dialectic philosophy.
